Paul Feig rumoured to to be in the frame to direct Ghostbusters 3
In yet another twist in the ongoing Ghostbusters 3 saga, Variety reported this weekend that The Heat and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is now the frontrunner to take the director's chair for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.
Having already changed the plot idea several times since Bill Murray made it clear he was not interested in reprising his role of Peter Venkman for the new movie, Sony are now rumoured to be considering introducing an all-female cast of comedy actors to take up the roles of the new generation of paranormal exterminators.
If the rumours about this new casting direction are true, then Feig does seem to be a good fit for the project, having been involved in movies with a similar profile, but at this point talks between director and studio are said to be 'casual', with reports that Phil Lord and Chris Miller – the pair behind The LEGO Movie – are still in the frame for the job also doing the rounds.
