Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and Paul Bettany's The Vision join cast for Captain America: Civil War
Ant-Man mainman Paul Rudd, Paul Bettany and William Hurt have joined the cast of forthcoming blockbuster Captain America: Civil War.
Marvel Studios confirmed yesterday (May 7th) that the film had entered production and that Rudd, Bettany, who was newly revealed as The Vision in Avengers: Age Of Ultron and William Hurt, who is returning as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross from 2008's The Incredible Hulk, have been added to the cast.
The three join the likes of Martin Freeman, who was confirmed earlier this week, Daniel Brühl, star of Rush and Inglourious Basterds, Chadwick Boseman, who will make his debut as Black Panther in the movie, as well as Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle and Elizabeth Olsen, who reprise their roles from Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
Anthony Mackie, who played Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Emily Van Camp, who played ex-SHIELD agent Sharon Carter and Frank Grillo, who portrayed Crossbones and Sebastian Stan, who acted as The Winter Soldier, will all return for Civil War.
Marvel has also revealed the film's official synopsis, which reads as follows: "Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age Of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
Captain America: Civil War is due for release in May 2016. It will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. Filming will begin in Atlanta, before moving to Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland.
