Pedro Pascal set for lead role in Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian
Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal is set to take a lead role in The Mandalorian, the new Star Wars spin-off TV series being overseen by The Jungle Book and Iron Man director Jon Favreau.
Pascal was one of several names that have been rumoured to be involved in the series for a while now, but according to Variety the Narcos star has now been offered a leading role and that contract negotiations are underway.
Favreau will write and executive produce the new series, with a string of directors already lined up to direct episodes in the show's first season, including Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyima and Clone Wars regular Dave Filoni.
The story underpinning The Mandalorian will take place after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of The First Order, and will follow the adventures of a lone gunfighter at the outer edges of the galaxy.
The new series is expected to make its debut on Disney's new streaming service, which is set to launch next year and has recently been named 'Disney+'.
