Plans for Deadpool 3 already underway, movie may launch new franchise X-Force
As well as readying Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox has already stepped up plans for a third instalment in the franchise.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, not only will the first movie serve as a third outing for Deadpool, it is also set to introduce the X-Force.
The X-Force are a militant mutant protection group founded by the time traveller Cable to eliminate potential threats to gifted people by any means necessary. Their arrival makes sense, particularly as the character of Cable is confirmed to be a big part of the Deadpool sequel.
Development on the sequel is still continuing despite the departure of director Tim Miller.
Miller, who made his feature film debut wit the smash hit earlier this year, has departed after creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds, particularly over the casting of Cable, a key character in the sequel.
Despite Miller's departure, work on the sequel will press on, with casting for the part of Domino, mutant mercenary with a slew of special abilities, currently underway.
Among the actresses in line for the role are Sienna Miller, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Masters Of Sex star Lizzie Caplan, Star Trek Beyond star Sofia Boutella, Sylvia Hoeks, who is currently filming Blade Runner 2049 and Stephanie Sigman, who had a small role in Spectre.
Also testing out for the role are Orange Is The New Black's Ruby Rose, who will be seen soon in the xXx reboot, The Knick's Eve Hewson, Kelly Rohrbach, who has a key role in the Baywatch reboot and Mackenzie Davis, who made her breakthrough in The Martian.
Deadpool grossed over $780 million at the box office and a sequel was swiftly ordered, a sequel that producer Simon Kinberg revealed will be filmed early next year.
Ryan Reynolds starred as Deadpool, with Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand also in key roles.
There is currently no release date for the sequel to Deadpool, which was released on DVD earlier this year and is available to purchase on the right-hand side of the page.
