Producers behind It plotting Child's Play reboot
David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith, the producers behind the recent revival of Pennywise the Clown in Andy Muschietti's 2017 version of Stephen King's It, are planning the resurrection of another 1980s horror movie icon.
Chucky, the evil doll who starred in Tom Holland's 1988 movie Child's Play, is set to get another outing on the big screen as Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith are planning a reboot of the movie with MGM. Polaroid director Lars Klevberg is reportedly the man likely to direct the film, which is understood to take place in the present day and will feature a young cast in an approach that echoes The Losers Club and hit Netflix show Stranger Things.
There's little else in the way of details as yet, but the producers are clearly keen to repeat their success in bringing Pennywise back to the screen and while it's not known if Chucky will look the same as we remember him, their reimagining of Stephen King's terrifying clown-demon is cause for optimism.
