Reese Witherspoon to star as Tinker Bell in new Disney live-action movie Tink
Reese Witherspoon is to star in a new live-action Disney blockbuster Tink, a new big-budget spin-off from Peter Pan, which will see her star as Tinker Bell.
The actress will produce the new movie, which has a script from Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory writer Victoria Strouse, which is currently being written.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new movie is in the same vein as 2014's megahit Maleficent, with Witherspoon and her producing partners hoping to present a new take on the character.
This new announcement comes after a spate of new projects set in the universe originally conceived by J.M Barrie in his 1904 stageplay. A new blockbuster version of the story, which is titled Pan and stars Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara and Garrett Hedlund, is due for release later this year. To add to this, Singer Paloma Faith and Stanley Tucci have been confirmed to star in ITV's new drama Peter & Wendy, which is also based on Peter Pan. You can read more about that here.
A successful musical Finding Neverland is also currently enjoying a very successful run on Broadway.
