Ridley Scott to follow Alien: Covenant with western Wraiths Of The Broken Land
Ridley Scott has signed up to direct a new adaptation of Craig Zahler's novel Wraiths Of The Broken Land.
According to Deadline, Scott, who is currently working on Alien: Covenant, will reunite with writer Drew Goddard and producer Simon Kinberg, both of whom he worked on box office smash The Martian with.
Wraiths Of The Broken Land takes place near the Mexican border at the turn of the 20th century and tells the story of a group of men who travel across the badlands to find their captive sisters, leaving a bloody trail as they go.
Alien: Covenant is a sequel to Prometheus and is the start of a new trilogy of Alien prequels.
Prometheus was released in 2012 and served as a origin story to Alien, it starred Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce.
A further sequel to Alien, this time directed by District 9's Neill Blomkamp, was in pre-production last year and was set to shoot in 2017, but has now been put on hold due to Scott's new plans.
