Robert Pattinson in talks to star in new film from Parasite director Bong Joon Ho
Two years on from Bong Joon Ho’s historic Oscar wins in recognition of his 2019 film Parasite, the Korean director is lining up his next project – an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel Mickey7 – and The Batman star Robert Pattinson is in the frame to take the lead role, according to a new report from Deadline.
Ashton’s novel has yet to be published and is due to arrive in spring, but that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. from snatching up the rights and getting the ball rolling on a big screen adaptation.
The story revolves around Mickey, an ‘expendable’ employee on a human mission to colonise an icy planet named Niflheim - one involving many dangerous tasks. Each time one of these tasks proves fatal, Mickey’s body is regenerated with most of his memories intact, and after being killed six times Mickey begins to realise why his role is one that nobody else wants.
Pattinson is being lined up for the starring role, although the project is stil in its very early stages, but he’s be back on the big screen soon enough with The Batman due to debut in cinemas at the beginning of March.
