Robin Wright joins the cast for Blade Runner sequel
House of Cards star Robin Wright has become the latest confirmed cast member added to the roster for the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic, Blade Runner. The actress joins Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, both of whom are already attached to the film, with the latter set to reprise his role as Rick Deckard.
Ridley Scott has already confirmed that he will not be directing the new film, instead the sequel will be helmed by Sicario director Denis Villeneuve, although Scott is set to retain a role as a producer. Details on the plot of the new film have been scarce, but the film is rumoured to feature a female protagonist, although it's not clear at this stage whether Wright be playing the role in question, or indeed whether her character will be a human or a replicant. Scott did however reveal some of the details of the opening sequence to the new film in an interview with The Guardian late last year, in which he described shots filmed at a farm in Wyoming and a landscape on a planet that has been hit by some sort of environmental catastrophe.
No release date has been confirmed at the time of writing, although the film is slated to arrive in cinemas at some point in 2018.
