Ruby Rose to play Batwoman in new DC TV series

Orange Is The New Black star Ruby Rose will play Batwoman in a new TV series for DC Comics.

Rose, who will next be seen on screen in giant shark epic The Meg, will make her debut in the annual crossover show between DC's hit shows The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.

According to Variety, TV network is currently developing a full series around the character, whose real name is Kate Kane.

Kane is billed as a highly-trained street fighter with a passion for social justice who heads onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman.

Reports have also confirmed that the character will be openly gay, making the show the first of its kind on TV.

If all goes well and the series is picked up, it will debut fully at the end of 2019.
