Rupert Everett stars as Oscar Wilde in the tender first trailer for The Happy Prince

The first trailer for The Happy Prince, Rupert Everett's new lavish biopic of Oscar Wilde, has been unveiled. Click below to watch it:

The movie sees Everett on writing, directing and starring duty with Colin Firth, Colin Morgan, Emily Watson and Edwin Thomas among the supporting cast.

The film begins in Paris and follows Wilde, now in his forties, penniless and in poor health after just being released from prison over his love affair with Lord Alfred ‘Bosie’ Douglas.

Determined to remain true to himself, the film follows Wilde through the final act of his life, his relationships with his lover, his estranged wife and his long-time friends and his journeys from England to France and Italy.

This is the second biopic to be released on Wilde's life. Stephen Fry starred as the beloved writer in a 1997 biopic, directed by Brian Gilbert.

The Happy Prince will be released into cinemas on June 15th this summer.
