Ryan Gosling and Keanu Reeves added to Marvel's Doctor Strange shortlist...
Ryan Gosling is the latest name to be linked to the role of Doctor Strange in Marvel's new big budget adaptation.
It was reported yesterday (October 15th) that Marvel had a shortlist of six actors for the role, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac, Ewan McGregor, Jared Leto, Ethan Hawke, and Matthew McConaughey the names reported.
However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, you can now add Gosling's name to that list as well as Justin Theroux and Keanu Reeves, meaning nine high-profile actors have been linked with the role since Joaquin Phoenix ended talks with Marvel.
Gosling is also reportedly wanted by DC, who want him to appear in their new adaptation of Suicide Squad, which was announced yesterday. He is also thought to have an offer to star in The Secret Life Of Houdini, a role that was originally linked to Johnny Depp.
Scott Derrickson, best known for directing The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Sinister and this year's Deliver Us From Evil, has signed up to direct the movie. Jon Spaihts is currently working on the script. The film is currently scheduled to be released in 2016.
Doctor Strange is a former neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, he is the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats and possesses a number of great powers.
