Sam Clafin and Riz Ahmed linked to Star Wars: Rogue One
The first Star Wars anthology movie is starting to take shape. Announced recently by LucasFilm, the anthology movies will be a series of standalone Star Wars films which take place outside of the narrative of the current franchise.
British director Gareth Edwards, last seen helming the Godzilla reboot, will be in the director’s chair and reports emerging overnight suggest that casting on the project is already well under way.
Riz Ahmed, who earned rave reviews for his role as a reluctant video journalist in Nightcrawler, looks set to star and he will be joined by Sam Clafin, he of Hunger Games fame.
Felicity Jones and Ben Mendelsohn have also been tapped to appear in the film about a collection of rebels attempting to steal blueprints to the Death Star.
The film will be set in between Revenge of the Sith and the original movie, A New Hope, and is expected in cinemas around Christmas 2016.
