Sam Claflin, Anya Taylor-Joy, Brian Gleeson and more join the cast of Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders has never had a problem attracting big names to its impressive cast, with the likes of Tom Hardy and Adrien Brody having already played key roles in the series alongside regulars such as Cillian Murphy and Helen McCrory, but the show has been growing in stature over the course of its four seasons, with its most recent fourth season outing arguably becoming the show's most gripping yet, enjoying its best viewing figures to date.
Now the showrunners behind hit BBC series have unveiled a list of stellar cast additions for the show's fifth series, which is due to be broadcast next year. Sam Claflin, Anya Taylor-Joy and Brian Gleeson head up a rollcall of exciting new additions to the cast for Season 5, which is set to add a dozen new stars to its roster.
Other names revealed to be joining the show's fifth season include Kill List and Utopia star Neil Maskell, Lady Macbeth's Cosmo Jarvis, Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, Krypton's Elliot Cowan and Game of Thrones star Kate Dickie.
There are few details available as yet in terms of the new characters, but the fifth season will be set in 1929 with a story revolving around the turmoil caused by that year's financial meltdown, leading to The Great Depression.
Filming on the new season began in September, and while there's no fixed release date for the first episode as yet, the BBC have confirmed that the show will return to screens in 2019, most likely with a late summer / autumn premiere.
