Sam Raimi in talks to take charge of Doctor Strange 2
Horror maestro Sam Raimi is in talks to take charge of Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The sequel is preparing to go into production now, but Marvel are on the hunt for a new director following the revelation that director Scott Derrickson would not be returning for the next instalment.
Derrickson directed the original, which saw Benedict Cumberbatch make his debut in the role, and had been booked to take charge of the sequel, but he has now left, citing "creative differences".
According to Variety, Raimi is in talks for the role, which is due to begin production in May.
Raimi's last directorial effort was 2013's Oz The Great And Powerful, but has since worked extensively as a producer, rebooting horror franchises Evil Dead and Poltergeist.
For the Doctor Strange sequel, Cumberbatch will be back to reprise his role, while Elizabeth Olson's Scarlet Witch is also due to take a key part in the sequel.
