Saw 8 gets a confirmed release date
The eighth instalment of horror movie franchise Saw has been given a confirmed release date.
According to Deadline, producers Lionsgate revealed yesterday (July 14th) that the much-discussed sequel will hit cinema screens on October 27th in 2017.
The movie, which remains tentatively titled Saw: Legacy, will be directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, the German brothers who have previously been behind the camera on thriller Predestination and horror Daybreakers.
For the new movie Lionsgate have tapped Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, screenwriters behind Piranha 3D andSorority Row, to write the script, with original director James Wan and creator Leigh Whannell serving as executive producers.
It's not currently known whether the new movie will be a continuation of the story or a reboot of the series, which has grossed over $873 million at the box office and was thought to have concluded in 2010 with Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.
