Sci-fi hit Starship Troopers to be rebooted
Sci-fi cult classic Starship Troopers is to be rebooted.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, the writing duo behind the upcoming Baywatch movie, have been tasked to write the reboot, with Neal Moritz, the producer behind the Fast and Furious franchise, overseeing the project.
Starship Troopers was released in 1997 and told the story of a soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry, a futuristic military unit which are fighting an interstellar war between mankind and an insectoid species known as "Arachnids".
It starred Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer, Denise Richarda, Jake Busey and Neil Patrick Harris.
The new movie will not be a remake of the 1997 adaptation, but will instead return to Robert A. Heinlein's novel for a new take on the story.
