Sequel to Source Code gets a writer and director
A sequel to science fiction thriller Source Code has been announced, according to reports overnight.
The 2011 thriller starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright and told the story of Captain Colter Stevens, a decorated soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
In his assignment he must re-live the same 8-minute incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.
Source Code was directed by Duncan Jones, but according to Variety, Anna Foerster, who has worked as a second-unit director on the likes of 10,000 BC and The Day After Tomorrow, has signed on to direct the sequel.
It is not known if any of Source Code's cast will return for the sequel, but writer Ben Ripley is returning to write the screenplay.
