Over the next two weeks, we're going to be previewing 100 of 2019's best movies. We continue today with the best of 2019's sequels, reboots and remakes...


Men In Black: International

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson

Director: F. Gary Gray

Release Date: June 14th


Chris Hemsworth and his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson lead the way in this big-budget reboot of the hugely successful sci-fi franchise. 

Men In Black followed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, who played agents of a secret organisation that polices and monitors extraterrestrial interactions on Earth. The three movies grossed over $1.7 billion at the box office. 

For the new reboot, the story will follow Hemsworth's Agent H and Thompson's Agent M. This time, the film is set in London and will follow the secret agents as they become involved in a murder mystery that sends them travelling the globe. 



John Wick 3: Parabellum

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Mark Dacascos, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston

Director: Chad Stahelski

Release Date: May 17th


After two superb movies in 2014 and 2017, we get the third instalment in 2019. 

This time, Keanu Reeves' ever-so-suave hitman is on the run after his assassination of a member of the High Table in The Continental, and with a $14 million global contract out on himself. 

The question is, can he fight his way out?

Kingsman: The Great Game

Starring: Ralph Fiennes, Rhys Ifans, Charles Dance, Daniel Brühl, Harris Dickinson, Zander James

Director: Matthew Vaughn

Release Date: November 8th


When it was announced that a third Kingsman film would be arriving in cinemas at end of 2019, it was widely assumed that we'd be enjoying the third instalment of Taron Egerton's Eggsy and his new life as a Kingsman agent. But, it turns out that was wrong. 

Instead, in November, we'll be getting a prequel The Great Game. 

The prequel will star Ralph Fiennes and newcomer Harris Dickinson and will be set during World War I, exploring the origins of the men who would become Kingsman. 

It will blend the fictional universe of the Kingsman with the real-life Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, which has had a rank known as Kingsman for more than a century.

Matthew Vaughn is back to direct and has co-written the script with Jane Goldman. 


What Men Want

Starring: Taraji P. Henson, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Max Greenfield, Aldis Hodge, Phoebe Robinson, Tamala Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jason Jones

Director: Adam Shankman

Release Date: March 22nd


Nancy Meyers hit comedy film What Women Want, which starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, gets a 2019 reboot with Empire's Taraji P. Henson starring this time. 

Henson plays Ali, a woman who finds herself frustrated and boxed out by the male sports agents in her profession, but gains an unexpected edge over them when she develops the ability to hear their thoughts.



Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle 2

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black

Director: Jake Kasdan

Release Date: December 13th


Expectations for the 2017 reboot of the beloved family adventure Jumanji were quite low, but it turned out to be a riotous ride and scored almost a billion dollars in box office receipts. 

Naturally, a sequel was swiftly ordered and it is due in cinemas at the end of 2019. 

Plot details are under wraps, but shooting is due to begin at the end of January with stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black all booked to return. 



Charlie's Angels

Starring: Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Patrick Stewart

Director: Elizabeth Banks

Release Date: October 25th


The Angels get a second big-screen reboot later this year, this time with Kristen Stewart, Aladdin star Naomi Scott and British newcomer Ella Balinska leading the way. 

This time, the Angels are no longer detectives, instead, they are a security and intelligence service that has teams around the world, Interestingly, each team is led by a different “Bosley", the shadowy mastermind behind the angels. 

Elizabeth Banks will be both behind and in front of the camera on this one. 



Zombieland Too

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Zoey Deutch, Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd

Director: Ruben Fleischer

Release Date: October 11th


10 years on from the original, the gang are getting back together for another zombie-romp. 

We meet Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock 10 years later, in that time they have moved into the American heartland.

Now they must face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors as well as battling the biggest challenge of all, the growing pains of a snarky makeshift family...


Downton Abbey

Starring: Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Allen Leech, Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith

Director: Michael Engler

Release Date: September 13th


ITV's hugely successful period drama ended its run in 2015, but will live again on the big screen in 2019. 

The cast will be reunited, with Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips and Stephen Campbell Moore all taking supporting roles, but what the plot is, we don't know as yet...



The Angry Birds Movie 2

Starring: Jason Sudeikis, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Leslie Jones, Sterling K. Brown, Eugenio Derbez, Zach Woods, Awkwafina, Nicki Minaj

Director: Thurop Van Orman

Release Date: October 11th


The animated hit that began with the most frustrating of mobile games gets a sequel in 2019, this time with added Nicki Minaj, Sterling K. Brown and Awkwafina. 


The Addams Family

Starring: Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Allison Janney

Director: Conrad Vernon, Greg Tiernan

Release Date: October 25th


Everyone's favourite ghoulish family get an animated reboot in October of 2019. 

With an all-star voice cast, we find the Addams getting ready for a big family party, only for a devious reality TV host to turn up and threaten to ruin everything...

Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, nost recently in charge on riotous animation Sausage Party, are at the helm for this one.
