"My character does a 180 in this movie..." - hmv.com talks Sicario 2: Soldado with Benicio Del Toro
Denis Villeneuve's 2015 movie Sicario was justifiably described as one of the year's best, a taut crime thriller that pitched Emily Blunt's principled FBI agent against the brutal Mexican cartels and the unscrupulous tactics of a shadowy government task force.
This week sees the arrival of a hotly-anticipated sequel, in which Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin reprise their roles as undercover agent Alejandro Gillick and CIA agent Matt Graver, both of whom are once again tasked with taking on the cartels. This time, when the authorities discover that the cartels are smuggling terrorists over the border to commit attacks on US soil, Graver is tasked with finding out who is responsible and bringing them to task by any means necessary.
Taylor Sheridan has once again provided the script, but this time around Villeneuve is replaced in the director's chair by Stefano Sollima, while new cast additions include Catherine Keener, Jeffrey Donovan and Isabela Moner.
With Sicario 2: Soldado in cinemas this weekend we caught up with Benicio Del Toro to talk about stepping back into the role of Alejandro for the new film.
