Sicario sequel gets a title and director, but loses one of its stars
The sequel to Sicario, the brutal thriller about the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the US and Mexico, has been given a title and found a director.
The movie is to be titled Soldado and will be directed by Stefano Sollima, best known for his work as the creator and main director of the TV-series Gomorrah. Taylor Sheridan has once again written the script.
Sollima replaces Denis Villeneuve, who is currently working on the sequel to Blade Runner.
The sequel will focus on Benicio Del Toro's Alejandro Gillick and Josh Brolin's CIA agent Matt Graver, with Emily Blunt's Kate Mercer not returning for the second film.
There is currently no release date for the sequel pencilled in.
