Star Ben Schwartz and director Jeff Fowler open up about bringing Sonic The Hedgehog to the big screen...

For anyone who lived their formative years through the early 1990s, Sonic the Hedgehog is unlikely to need much of an introduction. Aside from his Nintendo counterpart Mario, Sonic is arguably the most famous character to emerge from that decade's vast array of video games, but unlike Mario, who became the subject of his own movie as far back as 1993, Sonic never made the transition from the console to the big screen.

That all changes this week, however, with a new movie centred around Sega's iconic speedster set to arrive in UK cinemas this Friday (February 14th). Parks and Recreations' Ben Schwartz lends his voice to the movie's titular hero, starring opposite Westworld's James Marsden and the inimitable Jim Carrey, who brings his manic energy to bear as the film's big bad and Sonic's longtime nemesis Dr. Robotnik.

Filmmaker and visual effects artist Jeff Fowler makes his directorial debut with the new movie, and ahead of its arrival in cinemas this weekend we sat down with Jeff and Ben for a chat about how it all came together.
