Sony Pictures to remake classic teen horror The Craft
Sony Pictures is to remake iconic 1996 supernatural teen thriller The Craft.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, rising star Leigh Janiak has been signed up by the studio to direct the remake, she will co-write the script with Phil Graziadei, her writing partner on breakthrough feature Honeymoon.
Honeymoon starred Game Of Thrones' Rose Leslie and Penny Dreadful's Harry Treadaway as a newly married couple whose honeymoon ends up being ruined by a series of strange events. It did not get a wide release upon its release in 2014, but was a big critical success.
The Craft starred Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk and Rachel True. It followed Tunney's Sarah, who arrives at a brand new high school and befriends a trio of wannabe witches. After finding they can wield great magical powers, the quartet begin to use their powers to fix all their issues, including exacting revenge on bullies and family members, but soon discover that they're dealing with a force that's not to be messed with.
