Frank is definitely quite an obscure film but one which has won over audiences and critics alike. At one moment heartfelt, the next completely out there and hilarious, its certainly a film that you will enjoy from beginning to end.
Loosely based on the cult media figure of Chris Sievey's "Frank Sidebottom" Frank looks into the idea of what is it to be in a band and the ups and downs that comes with it. After standing out in the recent About Time, Domhnall Gleeson is yet again incredibly charming in a role which allows us to feel for these characters.
Fassbender also shines in the titular role as Frank which is highly commendable seeing as he wears a paper mache head throughout the duration.
But a film about music wouldn't be half as good if the songs themselves weren't as catchy as they are. What's also impressive is that these were all performed and recorded live further adding to the realism of it all. Trust me you will be humming and singing along to them a long time after you've seen it.
