Steve Carell and Phoebe Waller-Bridge join cast of John Krasinski comedy If
Even before the sequel to A Quiet Place arrived in 2020, there was already news that actor-director John Krasinski was plotting a fantasy comedy titled Imaginary Friends starring Ryan Reynolds, but there has been little news since development on the film began in 2019.
Now though the pace appears to be picking up with some new cast announcements and a 2023 release date unveiled by Paramount.
Steve Carrell and Phoebe-Waller Bridge are two of the new cast additions, with Louis Gosset Jr., Killing Eve star Fiona Shaw and Minari’s Alan Kim also on board for Krasinski’s new film, with the title now shortened to If. This will be the first time Carrell and Krasinski have worked together since both appeared in the US version of The Office, while the new film also represents a reunion for Killing Eve writer Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw, who starred alongside Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh in the hit espionage series.
It now looks as though things are set to move quickly, with the new casting additions accompanied by the announcement of a proposed US release date, slated for November 17 2023.
