Steve Coogan signs up to star in new costume drama
Steve Coogan has signed up to star in a new costume drama, playing 18th century lawyer John Boswell.
The film is an adaptation of Patrick Edgeworth's play Boswell For The Defence. Edgeworth has written the screenplay himself, with Gregor Jordan directing. Jordan has previously been behind the camera on Buffalo Soldiers and The Informers.
The story is set to focus on the period of Boswell's life where it was perceived he took on an impossible case, to save the life of the convict Mary Bryant from the gallows. Bryant was given little chance of survival, but Boswell took on the case nonetheless.
Production on the film will begin in 2015. Coogan will next been on in the third instalment of the Night At The Museum franchise, reprising his role as Octavius.
