Steven Soderbergh developing thriller about the Panama Papers
Steven Soderbergh, best known for his work on Magic Mike and the trilogy that began with Ocean's Eleven, is developing a new thriller about the Panama Papers.
The movie is being written by Scott Z Burns, who has collaborated with Soderbergh on Side Effects, it is based on Pulitzer Prizewinner Jake Bernstein's upcoming book Secrecy World.
Bernstein was a part of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists that in April broke the news about the Panama Papers, leaking more than 11 million documents from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.
According to Deadline, Soderbergh is currently only booked to produce the movie, but may well end up directing it as well.
He is currently preparing to film Logan Lucky, a thriller about brothers who plan a crime during a NASCAR race in Charlotte. Channing Tatum, Michael Shannon, Katherine Heigl, Adam Driver, Riley Keough, Daniel Craig and Seth MacFarlane are booked to star in the thriller.
