Stranger Things star David Harbour now frontrunner to play Cable in Deadpool sequel
David Harbour, best known for his role in Stranger Things, is now the frontrunner to take the role of Cable in the sequel to Deadpool.
Cable is a time travelling mutant and the alter ego of Nathan Summers, son of X-Men mainstay Scott Summers, who you might know better as Cyclops.
According to The Wrap, Harbour, who plays Chief Jim Hopper on the hit sci-fi drama, has screen tested and is now in pole position for the role, which has been previously linked to both Pierce Brosnan and Kyle Chandler.
Cable is set to be joined in the sequel by Domino, a role that has also seen plenty of attention.
Among those to audition for the part have been Sienna Miller, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Masters Of Sex star Lizzie Caplan, Star Trek Beyond star Sofia Boutella, Sylvia Hoeks, who is currently filming Blade Runner 2049 and Stephanie Sigman, who had a small role in Spectre.
Also testing out for the role are Orange Is The New Black's Ruby Rose, who will be seen soon in the xXx reboot, The Knick's Eve Hewson, Kelly Rohrbach, who has a key role in the Baywatch reboot and Mackenzie Davis, who made her breakthrough in The Martian. No one has been cast in the role as yet though.
Deadpool grossed over $780 million at the box office and a sequel was swiftly ordered, a sequel that is set to film later this year.
Ryan Reynolds starred as Deadpool, with Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand also in key roles. John Wick co-director David Leitch will take charge of the sequel.
There is currently no release date for the sequel to Deadpool, which was released on DVD last year and is available to purchase on the right-hand side of the page.
