Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn to get solo movie
Harley Quinn, one of the key members of Suicide Squad, is to get her own solo movie, according to reports.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Quinn, who will be played by The Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie in the forthcoming blockbuster, could lead a movie that focuses on several of DC's female heroes like Batgirl and Birds of Prey.
Robbie, who is said to be the driving force behind the idea for the spin-off, will star and produce. A female writer is working on the script, though it's not known who that is yet.
Harley Quinn was introduced as the frequent accomplice and lover of The Joker, but has become a key character in her own right and will play a key role in this summer's Suicide Squad.
The Suicide Squad are a gang of villains and criminals, who are put together and forced by the US government into service as a disposable black ops team. They are led by a government operative Dr Amanda Waller.
In the new movie, Will Smith will lead the way as Deadshot, with Jared Leto playing The Joker and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. It also features Jai Courtney as Boomerang, with Viola Davis playing Waller.
The movie has been written and directed by Fury's David Ayer and will be released into cinemas on August 5th this year.
