Sylvester Stallone quits Expendables franchise

Sylvester Stallone has left the Expendables franchise.

According to Deadline, the action man has departed due to a fallout with Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner over the new director, the script and the effects for Expendables 4.

Speaking in the same report, Lerner said that he hopes to persuade Stallone to return and that they had agreed on "95%" of issues, but that there were still details to iron out. At present though, Stallone will not be involved in the fourth film.

There have been three instalments of the Expendables thus far, grossing over $800 million dollars at the box office. The movies follow a group of elite mercenaries who carry out all sorts of missions, ranging from assassination to rescue jobs.

You can check out all three previous instalments of the Expendables here in hmv's online store.
