Synopsis unveiled for Doctor Strange sequel Mulitverse of Madness

The synopsis for the Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been unveiled.

The sequel is preparing to go into production now and a short synopsis was revealed by Backstage, which hosts details of auditions for forthcoming movies.

The synopsis is as follows: "After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil."

Last week it was revealed that director Scott Derrickson would not be returning for the sequel.

Derrickson directed the original, which saw Benedict Cumberbatch make his debut in the role, and had been booked to take charge of the sequel, but he has now left, citing "creative differences".

Despite Derrickson's departure, the film is still due to go into production in May. Neither the start date nor the planned release date of May 7th in 2021 are expected to be delayed.

Cumberbatch will be back to reprise his role, while Elizabeth Olson's Scarlet Witch is also due to take a rey role in the sequel.
