Taron Egerton's Elton John biopic gets greenlit
Rocketman, the new Elton John biopic starring Taron Egerton, has been greenlit.
The project has been in development for some time with Tom Hardy originally attached to star in the film, but last year he was replaced by Egerton.
According to Deadline, the movie has now been set up at Paramount, with Matthew Vaughn, who directed Egerton in Kingsman, producing.
Egerton will work with director Dexter Fletcher, working from a script from Billy Elliott writer Lee Hall.
The story will follow John's life as he goes from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a global superstar and charts his enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Egerton will also record a number of Elton John's songs for the soundtrack.
