Tearjerking first trailer for Barry Jenkins' Moonlight follow-up If Beale Street Could Talk unveiled

A first trailer for If Beale Street Could Talk, Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins' follow-up to Moonlight, has been unveiled. Click below to watch it:

The movie is an adaptation of James Baldwin's novel and follows a 19-year-old girl named Tish, whose real name is Clementine, and a 22-year-old sculptor named Fonny, whose real name is Alonzo. They become engaged, and she subsequently becomes pregnant.

Sadly, Fonny is then imprisoned for a crime he denies, leaving Tish in a race against the clock to prove her lover's innocence while carrying their first born child.

It stars Kiki Layne, Ed Skrein, Stephan James, Pedro Pascal, Bryan Tyrie Henry, Teyonah Parris, Finn Whitrock, Regina King and Colman Domingo, with Jenkins on adapting and directing duty.

If Beale Street Could Talk will be released into UK cinemas on January 18th in 2019.
