Teen series Charmed set for new reboot

Teen drama Charmed looks set to rebooted.

The show, which ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006, followed the lives of three sisters who battle against the forces of evil using their witchcraft. It starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the reboot is a reimagining of the original TV series set in 1976 and has a script from Jane The Virgin writers Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin.

The reboot is expected to aim at a younger audience than the original series and has been pitched as a replacement for The Vampire Diaries by network The CW. The Vampire Diaries will end at the conclusion of its eighth season this year.
