The 355 - Five Reasons You'll Love It

2022 is only a few days old, but it's already come flying out of the traps with a series of must-watches at the cinema, and none more so than The 355.

Featuring an all-star cast led by Jessica Chastain and Lupita Nyong'o, in The 355 we watch on as a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, forcing Chastain's wild card CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown to join forces with rival agents from around the world on a lethal, breakneck mission to retrieve it, while also staying one step ahead of a mysterious woman, who is tracking their every move.

The action takes them around the globe from the cafes of Paris to the markets of Morocco to the wealth and glamour of Shanghai, as they plot to retrieve the weapon and somehow stay alive.

Starring alongside Chastain and Nyong'o are Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Fan Bingbing, Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramírez.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg takes charge. He has co-written the script with Gossip scribe Theresa Rebeck.

The film is out now in UK cinemas and will be released on DVD in the coming weeks, but we caught an early screening and have rounded up five reasons why you'll love this hard-hitting action thriller...

It's action-packed...

From the get-go, the film's dives straight into big action setpieces and that doesn't let up until the credits roll. There's an awful lot here for action junkets to fall in love with.

The collective works...

With a truly international cast, director Simon Kinberg and Chastain have been canny in their choice of co-stars. The dynamic between Chastain, Nyong'o, Cruz, Kruger and Bingbing really works.

This is a globe-trotting movie in every sense...

From France to Morocco to Colombia and everywhere in between, the film zips about the globe with abandon.

It's a pacy watch...

At just a touch over the two-hour mark, The 355 isn't a short watch, but there's a lot of heavy lifting to do initially. Still, it keeps up the pace and propulsion very effectively.

Things are set up for another instalment...

We're not offering up any spoilers, but let's say it's made clear that there's every chance that the cast will be back for more, and that's a very good thing.
