The Affair's Dominic West to play Lara Croft's father in Tomb Raider reboot
Dominic West, star of The Affair and The Wire, is to play Lara Croft's father in the much-anticipated Tomb Raider reboot, which is to star Ex Machina and The Danish Girl's Alicia Vikander.
West will play the role of archaeologist Lord Richard Croft, the Earl of Abbingdon, in the new reboot, which will also star Walton Goggins and Daniel Wu.
The movie will hit cinemas on March 16th in 2018, meaning it will arrive a full 15 years after the last Tomb Raider movie hit screens.
The hugely successful video game series that became two blockbuster movies will be rebooted by Roar Uthuag, the director behind the Norwegian disaster drama The Wave. Filming will get underway next year.
Angelina Jolie starred as heroine Lara Craft in 2001's Tomb Raider and 2003's Tomb Raider: Cradle Of Life, but will not be involved in the reboot. Prior to Vikander being cast, Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley, The Maze Runner star Kaya Scodelario and Captain America's Hayley Atwell had all been linked with the role of Croft.
