The Blind Side director in talks to direct new movie about the story of McDonalds
John Lee Hancock, director of The Bind Side and Saving Mr Banks, is in talks to direct a new movie about the founding and rise of fast-food chain McDonalds.
The movie is to be titled The Founder, and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, it will follow the story of how Illinois salesman Ray Kroc met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California.
After meeting the brothers and becoming hugely impressed by their efficient system of making the food, Kroc then maneuvered himself in a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.
According to the report, the film's dark tone is similar to that of The Social Network and There Will Be Blood, with a similarly brooding script.
