The Conjuring 2's release date delayed by a year

The release of the sequel to The Conjuring has been severely delayed.

The follow-up to the smash-hit horror film, which starred Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, was due to be released on October 23rd in 2015, but has now been pushed back to an unspecified date in 2016.

Studio Warner Brothers has moved another horror film into the The Conjuring's release slot, though they have yet to confirm what that film is.

The first instalment of The Conjuring proved a hit in 2013, taking $318 million worldwide against a budget of just $20 million.

Both Wilson and Farmiga are signed on to reprise their roles in the sequel, which does not currently have a director in place.

James Wan directed The Conjuring and is currently hard at work on Fast 7, though it's unknown if this release date change is to accomodate his schedule.

A prequel to The Conjuring titled Annabelle was released earlier this month and you can read our full review here.
