The Fault In Our Stars' director Josh Boone signs up to direct new mutants X-Men spin-off
Josh Boone, director of megahit drama The Fault In Our Stars, has signed up to direct a new spin-off movie from the X-Men universe.
Producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed that Boone will direct a new movie which will focus on a brand new group of younger mutants.
Speaking to Deadline about the announcement, Kinberg said: "We're so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters."
The New Mutants have been portrayed in various Marvel comic series since 1982, with some, like Blink, Warpath and Sunspot, already part of the established X-Men universe. It's not which will feature in Boone's new movie, which he is to write with Jackass writer Knate Gwaltney.
Boone is next scheduled to direct a new adaptation of Anne Rice's classic novel The Vampire Chronicles and will follow that with a new lavish adaptation of Stephen King's epic novel The Stand. This means work on mutants is not likely to begin for at least two years.
New Mutants joins Deadpool, Wolverine, Gambit and X-Men: Apocalypse as movies in the X-Men universe in various stages of production. Deadpool is due to be released on February 12th in 2016, three months before X-Men: Apocalypse hits cinemas.
