The Girl In The Spider's Web to arrive in 2018, Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara not returning for sequel
The Girl In The Spider's Web, a sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, will arrive in 2018, but without any of the original stars.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which was adapted from the first novel in Stieg Larsson's bestselling trilogy, was released in 2011 and starred Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Robin Wright. It was a modest box office hit, but despite that, no sequel was confirmed. Now the series is to be rebooted.
The Girl In The Spider's Web isn't actually part of the author's original trilogy and was written by David Lagercrantz after the author's death with continuity to both the crime writer’s style and his characters in mind.
While there is no word on who will play hacker Lisbeth Salander and investigate journalist Mikael Blomkvist, Fede Alvarez, direct of Don't Breathe, has been confirmed to take charge of the film. He will work from a script from Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight.
The new reboot will be released into cinemas on October 5th in 2018.
