Who’s in it?
Matt Damon leads the way here as mercenary William Galvin, with Game Of Thrones star Pedro Pascal as his companion Pero Tovar and Willem Dafoe as Sir Ballard another ex-pat enjoying life in China.
There are also big roles for Jing Tian, Andy Lau, Zhang Hanyu and Eddie Peng.
And who’s behind the camera?
It has been directed by Zhang Yimou, the man behind on the camera on previous epics Curse Of The Golden Flower and House Of Flying Daggers, he works from a script from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Bourne's Tony Gilroy and Prince Of Persia's Doug Miro.
What’s the plot?
In this movie, we follow Galvin and Tovar, mercenaries who are wandering ancient China in search of gunpowder, a resource that has yet to come to Europe and which they fancy they can sell for a fortune upon their return.
While on the hunt for that black powder the pair are captured and imprisoned within the Great Wall, quickly discovering that the mystery behind one of the greatest wonders of the world is its purpose to protect the population from hordes of monsters.
As they learn more about the struggle, Galvin and Tovar are drawn into the battle and a whole nation’s fight to survive...

Adventures don’t come with much bigger than this. It’s a visual feast and a thrilling spectacle.
