The Grinch: Five Reasons You'll Love It

Christmas is nearing once again and every year it brings back some of our favourite festive stories. From the 1966 animated television special, to the 2000 live-action film starring Jim Carey, the tale of The Grinch has been a must-watch for many generations at this time of year.

And now, from the studio that brought Despicable Me to life, the green hairy outcast is back to steal Christmas once more.

We managed to catch an early screening and rounded up five reasons why you’ll love The Grinch...

It’s very funny…

From the Grinch’s slapstick moments to the antics of Fred the Reindeer, there are laughs aplenty throughout. Trusty sidekick Max the Dog particularly gives some of the film’s funniest gags.

The scenery is delightful…

Christmas is always a bright time of year, and the Whos of Whoville take it to the next level (in fact, three times the next level as requested by the Mayor). There’s lots of beautiful colours and decorations, and the town feels incredibly warm and inviting.

The Christmas Eve sequence is brilliant…

As The Grinch is carrying out his dastardly plan to steal the holiday from the Whos, we see some brilliant gadgets and transitions, making it one of the most enjoyable and creative scenes in the film.

The whole cast give a great performance…

Benedict Cumberbatch, Pharrell Williams, Rashida Jones, Angela Lansbury, The Greatest Showman alumn Cameron Seely and more deliver a truly enjoyable experience throughout.

Max steals the show a little…

He’s a wonderful and loyal companion to The Grinch, who always tries his best to make his master happy (and gets a little jealous of Fred making coffee). He’s also not afraid to break out the sad puppy dog eyes to try and get his way. The relatable heartwarming moments are some of the more memorable (well, for dog owners at least anyway…)

The Grinch is available for pre-order now on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD in-store & online now.
