The Guest: What You Need To Know
It’s often said that when actors and actresses decide to leave an iconic role behind, it’s best that they do something completely different to make sure they don’t end up playing versions of the character over and over again.
That’s almost certainly why Dan Stevens, best known as the dapper and ever-so-well-spoken Matthew Crawley on ITV’s mega hit drama Downton Abbey, cast off his dickie bow and hit the gym for his role in deranged new action flick The Guest.
It’s out now on DVD and Blu-Ray now, here is everything you need to know about it.
What’s the plot?
It goes a little like this: The Peterson family are enjoying a quiet existence in middle America, slowly getting over the death of their son, who was killed in service of the US Army. Then, out of the blue, they are visited by David, a soldier who tells them he was a close friend of their son. They welcome him in and ask him to stay a few days, and then, during those few days, more and more accidents start to occur. Is David to blame? And is he who he says he is?
Who’s in it?
Aside from the aforementioned Mr Stevens, who plays David, there are roles for Maika Monroe, Sheila Kelly, Brendan Meyer, Lance Reddick and one-time E.R star Leland Orser.
Does it deliver?
2014 had lots of brilliant cinematic moments, but there was not a film released that is as much fun as The Guest.
The Guest is out now on Blu-Ray and DVD.
