The Hateful Eight's Walton Goggins will be the villain in new Tomb Raider reboot
Walton Goggins, best known for his roles in Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight, has signed up to play the villain in the new Tomb Raider.
The movie will hit cinemas on March 16th in 2018, meaning it will arrive a full 15 years after the last Tomb Raider movie hit screens, with Alicia Vikander taking over as Lara Croft.
According to Variety, Goggins is close to signing to play the anatogonist to Vikander's Croft. Plots details are scarce at the moment, but it has been suggested that the story with revolve around Croft trying to clear the name of her father, himself a successful explorer.
The hugely successful video game series that became two blockbuster movies will be rebooted by Roar Uthuag, the director behind the Norwegian disaster drama The Wave. Filming will get underway next year.
Angelina Jolie starred as heroine Lara Craft in 2001's Tomb Raider and 2003's Tomb Raider: Cradle Of Life, but will not be involved in the reboot. Prior to Vikander being cast, Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley, The Maze Runner star Kaya Scodelario and Captain America's Hayley Atwell had all been linked with the role of Croft.
