The Inbetweeners sequel breaks UK box office record
The Inbetweeners 2 has broken the record for the highest ever opening day at the UK box office for a comedy. The sequel, which opened yesterday (August 6th), took a massive £2.75 million in only one day.
The first Inbetweeners film made £2.58 million on its opening day back in 2011, which was the previous record. It went on to make an incredible £45 million in the UK and was the third most successful film of the year.
The new film sees the boys take a trip to Australia, as Will, Simon and Neil travel down under to join Jay on his gap year. It looks to be the final outing for The Inbetweeners, with Joe Thomas (who plays Simon) telling the BBC “The writers have been very adamant they are not going to do any more, and we are in their hands.”
