The Lego Movie set to get Batman spin-off
The Lego representation of Batman in the recent smash-hit animation The Lego Movie is set to get its own spin-off.
The character, who was voiced by Arrested Development star Will Arnett, has proved to be so popular that studio bosses have now decided to give it its own sequel, which is due for release in 2017.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on The Lego Movie, will direct the spin-off, with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith writing the script.
The spin-off is set to be released before the sequel to The Lego Movie itself, which is currently in development.
The Lego Movie was a huge hit earlier this year, raking in almost $500 million at the box office. As well as Arnett, it featured the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman.
