The moon is on a collision course with Earth in the epic first teaser for Roland Emmerich's Moonfall

A first trailer for Moonfall, the new sci-fi epic from director Roland Emmerich, has arrived. Click below to watch it:

The film stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu and Donald Sutherland.

The story begins with the discovery that a mysterious force has knocked the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sent it hurtling on a collision course with Earth.

Berry's Jo Fowler, a NASA executive and former astronaut, is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Wilspn#s Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist named K.C. Houseman believe her.

The unlikely trio then mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is...

Emmerich directs and has co-written the screenplay with Spenser Cohen.

Moonfall is due in cinemas on February 4th in 2022.

You can check out Emmerich's back catalogue, including Independence Day and WWII epic Midway, here in hmv's online store.
