The Purge creator says fifth movie will be last
James DeMonaco, the creator of The Purge, has said that the fifth movie in the series will be the final act.
The Purge began in 2013 and told the story of a family trying to survive the annual Purge, a night during which all crime, even murder, is temporarily legal.
Since then, three further sequels and a TV spin-off have been released. DeMonaco has provided the script for each movie and has overseen the series.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, DeMonaco said when asked about plans for the next film in the series: "I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited."
He continued: "When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home."
The most recent instalment in the series, The First Purge, is released on DVD on Monday (October 29th).
