The Road star Kodi Smit-McPhee to play young Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse
Kodi Smit-McPhee, best known for his roles in The Road, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and Paranorman, has signed up to play Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Smit-McPhee will take the role, which was originally filled by Alan Cumming in the film's first three instalments, in the new blockbuster, which is just about to begin filming.
X-Men: Apocalypse will see Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult return for to reprise their roles, with the likes of . Bryan Singer will return as director, working from a script by Simon Kinberg, with a story from Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
Smit-McPhee joins Game Of Thrones' Sophie Turner, who most people will know as Sansa Stark, who will play young Jean Grey, who was brought to life in the original trilogy by Famke Janssen.
Alexandra Shipp, who recently starred as Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, will play the younger Storm, played originally by Halle Berry, and Tye Sheridan, who has starred in Mud and Tree Of Life, will portray a younger Cyclops, a character played originally by James Marsden.
Oscar Isaac has been cast as the film's key villain, Apocalypse, who was first seen in the post-credit sequence for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film will be released on May 19th 2016 in the UK and May 27th in the US.
