The Theory Of Everything's James Marsh to direct Hatton Gardens heist thriller
James Marsh, best known for directing the Oscar-winnning biopic The Theory Of Everything, has signed up to take charge of the new thriller based on the notorious Hatton Gardens heist.
According to Deadline, the movie, which will be written by The Road scribe Joe Penhall, will be based around an in-depth feature in Vanity Fair, written by Mark Seal and titled “The Over The Hill Mob”.
The Hatton Gardens heist took place in April 2015 and saw a team of robbers steal over £200 million from safety deposit boxes. After police investigated they tracked the team, who all turned out to be retired men in their 60s and 70s who had decided to perform one last heist.
Marsh will begin work on the movie as soon as he completes his biopic of Donald Crowhurst, a British businessman and amateur sailor who died while competing in the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, a single-handed, round-the-world yacht race.
